Hotel information - Tschuggen Grand Hotel
Location and key features
The Tschuggen Grand Hotel is one of Switzerland’s most special 5 star hotels. Amidst the breath-taking landscape of Graubünden you’ll discover luxury, elegance and outright hospitality. The hotel’s interior demostrates an eye for detail and an element of surprise: designed by Carlo Rampazzi, each floor in the hotel has its own colour theme and feel. The hotel also has a private gondola (ski in and ski out) – the Tschuggen Express – which transports guests directly to Arosa’s ski- and walking areas. Yet the most striking of the hotel’s features is the wellness centre. Designed by architect Mario Botta and opened in 2006, the centre is a real eye-catcher. The wellness centre can be accessed via an ajoining bridge to the hotel. The Tschuggen Grand Hotel is a 9 hour drive from Utrecht and around 150 minutes from Zurich airport.
The hotel houses four restaurants. Restaurant La Vette is situated 1,800 metres above sea level and offers fine, modern, flavoursome gastronomy. The Grand Restaurant serves contemporary international cuisine prepared with the freshest of ingredients. La Collina restaurant has a terrace, and both restaurants offer stunning views over Graubünden. The Bündnerstube restaurant offers traditional local cuisine, including fondue and raclette. The hotel also has a Tschuggen Bar, cigar bar and Spa Lounge (where light snacks, fruit juices and sports drinks are available). The area is a skier’s paradise: with over 225km of slopes and 60km walking and langlauf routes, this is the perfect place to combine winter sport and wellness. The hotel also has a sports shop and creche and the surrounding area boasts a golf course and tennis facilities. The golf course is in fact one of Europe’s highest courses, 1,800m above sea level.
The wellness centre
It isn’t only the mountains and nature Graubünden has to offer that make it a special place for a relaxing wellness holiday, but also the diversity of the spa and wellness facilities on offer. Architect Mario Botta has raised the bar in the wellness arena with his design of the Tschuggen-bergoase: organic in its form, the building heavily features glass and is a light and airy expression of minimalism. The wellness centre is no less than 5,000m2, spanning four floors. The spa facilities are more than extensive – as well as in- and outdoor pools, there are jacuzzis and steamrooms, saunas, meditation and relaxation areas, jet massage showers, a medical spa, gym with Kinesis equipment, a work-out studio, 12 treatment rooms and a terrace. There is also a mountain spa, offering – among other things – a view over the snow-toppend mountain range.
The hotel has a total 130 rooms and suites, each fitted with safe, TV, telephone, minibar (at a charge), bathroom with hairdryer, bath or shower. There is also free Wifi in the rooms.
